Distance Sales

There are two ways of distance sales, both with advantages and disadvantages for both parties:

A. Slovina takes care of the sale from start to finish

1. the winemaker provides the wine and information about the wine, winery and vineyards to us. The winemaker remains the owner of the wine at all time until we have sold and paid for it in full, according to the signed agreement
2. we arrange and pay for the transport from Slovenia, the winery has to bring the wine to a collection point in the region in Slovenia, likely another winery
3. we have the wine shipped to us and store the wine
4. we add the wine to the online shop and merchant feeds of marketplaces
5. we sell the wine to consumers
6. we pick and package the wine and send it to the buyers in special wine delivery boxes
7. we pay the winemaker for the sold wine
8. if after a certain period the wine has not been sold, or for another reason, the winemaker can take it back

In other words, this is a form of consignment sales with all pro’s and con’s.

B. Slovina sells, the winery fullfils.

The second method:

1. the winemaker provides the information about the wine, winery and vineyards to us.
2. we add the wine to the online shop and merchant feeds of marketplaces
3. we sell the wine to consumers
4. we send the order delivery details to the winery
5. the winery picks and packs the wine
6. the winery provides the package to the courier
7. we pay the winemaker for the sold wine minus a Sales Commission which covers all costs related to the sale.

This can be regarded as a form of distance or third party sales, or in ecommerce terms a mix of commission sales and dropshipping (but not completely dropshipping, as we arrange the delivery)

Because of the terms and conditions in the contracts with third parties as marketplaces, for instance Vivino, the winery is required to be available and able at all time to fulfill the order, otherwise there is a penalty or fine by the third party.
